Suzuki designed the DF4 and DF6 to be compact and lightweight with added features that make their operation more user-friendly. The DF4 and DF6 are 4-strokes so you can expect clean, economical operation, and like all Suzukis, they deliver excellent power, performance and durability.
USER-FRIENDLY FEATURES Tiller Handle
The DF4 and DF6 are equipped with a tiller handle that extends out from the steering bracket. This design positions the operator further forward in the boat to provide better weight distribution which, helps in getting an inflatable to plane quicker.
The outboard is designed to turn 90° both left and right of center. This feature helps docking and tight turning of the boat while its 90° stopping points provide an easy-torecognize reference of the outboard's angle.
With the tiller handle attached to the steering bracket rather than the motor itself, and the utilization of a large rubber mount inside the same steering bracket, vibration in the tiller handle has been greatly reduced. Steering is smoother due to the utilization of an upper bushing placed between the steering bracket and the swivel bracket. Steering tension can be adjusted with a large friction adjuster to regulate steering effort and feel.
Carrying Handle
Carrying the outboard is made easier with the incorporation of a large, ringshaped carrying handle. Designed with smooth edges and lacking any sharp angles, the carrying handle offers plenty of space for both hands and is positioned to balance the load.

Tilt Up Handle
A handle built into the backside of the engine cover offers easy tilting of the outboard. Lifting on the handle makes tilting of the engine from the normal drive position to any one of the two shallow water drive positions or full tilt position a simple operation.
Providing Power
Both the DF4 and DF6 utilize an OHV single cylinder 4-stroke engine. With a 138cc displacement they offer the largest displacement found in this class of outboards but compact and efficient designs have kept their weight to a minimum. Producing excellent low- to mid-range torque, these engines, in combination with their light weight, deliver excellent acceleration.
Also, 4-stroke operation provides the DF4 and DF6 with greater fuelefficient operation, less vibration and quiet operation while eliminating the need for mixing oil with the fuel. This keeps your boating experience clean, pleasant and user-friendly.

MORE FEATURES THAT ASSIST IN OPERATION
Large Clutch Lever
Large Clutch Lever Both outboards are fitted with a large plastic clutch lever that promotes easier shifting.
Digital CDI with Ignition Coil
The Suzuki DF4 and DF6 are the first outboards in the world to utilize a Digital CDI ignition system equipped with an ignition coil. The single unit system is compact, lightweight and highly resistant to corrosion. It also acts as an over-rev limiter while providing stable idling.
Optional Alternator
An optional 12V 6A alternator is the largest alternator offered in this class. This system is designed to provide charging power from as low as 2,200 rpm.
Integral Fuel Tank
Both the DF4 and DF6 are equipped with a built-in 1.5-liter fuel tank that is the largest fuel tank offered in their class. Using a 12 ft. aluminum boat in a factory test, the outboard ran for a total of 45 min (approximately 2.0- liter/hour) on a full tank of fuel. This makes short excursions possible without the use of an external fuel tank. For extended use, the DF6 is equipped with a remote fuel connector for use with an external tank (optionally available on the DF4).
Pilot Water Hole and Fresh Water Flushing System
The pilot water hole is located upstream of the cylinder to confirm that there is water circulating soon after the motor is started. The pilot water inspection tube is removable to permit cleaning of the tube and the attachment of an optional connector allows freshwater flushing of the cooling system.
